I wanted to thank everyone who has taken the time to comment and share constructive criticism. I will admit it is a little strange to have the feedback. I have never had to deal with it before because it has always been a reporters story and I just went home. Please keep
it coming though, and with your advice and some hard work on my part I will be able to get better. Thank you for throwing out some story ideas. I definitely can use more of that.

You will be a great success because of your terrific attitude. And like your photography skills have improved over the years so shall your reporting and editing. We'll be watching.

A quick thought on my part. I don't respect anonymous criticism just like I don't respect anonymous cheerleading. That's just me.

I meant to say this yesterday to you and was thinking about doing it as a private e-amil but...what the heck...I'll do it here.

Now you are getting an idea of how being more assiciated to the story, like any reporter, can draw attention to you and your work. Get used to it. It's also the reason you should make at least as much money as any reporter...maybe more when you get better.

You voice delivery...you are still sounding a little afraid, unsure, not confident...whatever you want to call it. Besides being a photog, I also do voiceover work for documentaries. You have to lose your inhibition about being emotional. When you track, try selling it more. Be more expresive. Don't be shy about it. In fact, you'll probably feel like you are over the top when you listen to yourself but right now, you are kind of droning through the track. It takes a little more confidence to deliver the track using your voice. Practice being more expressive. Push it! You may go too far at first but you need to sell the story more with your voice. Sound like you are interested and it's exciting...if that's appropriate to the story of course.

If it's a fun story...sound like you're having fun telling it. Sound like you had a good time there and pass that excitement on to the audience.

If it's a more serious story, of course sound a little more serious but get behind it more. More confidence and more vaiety of inflection in the words. Again...SELL IT! Not just with pictures but with your voice.

Part of the reason I am taking the time to put my two cents in at your blog is because, despite what many may think, I'd much prefer to see a photog excel at this VJ thing than a person who has never picked up a camera or edited.

You can do it. Practice will take you there but practice alone isn't enough. You have to push yourself with your voice just like you push yourself with the camera in getting the different more interesting shots.

Think about that while you write. Do the job of journalism but pick your words more carefully. Be creative with your words. Be creative with the tone of your voice and above all, be confident.

I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future...because you do have a future!

Sorry for the typos. It's a work day for me and I'm in a bit of a rush.

Todd,
Are Ken Wilson, Randy Sheuer and Mike Dennis still there and are they scheduled for the training?
