The East Bank

I took this photo about a year ago with a 35mm camera on a tripod and a thirty second exposure. The streak in center of water is from a barge going by while I was taking the shoot. It is the best photo I ever made so I thought I would share it with you. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Great photo! Thanks for sharing it. I liked Ken's story about the water park. I also liked your story about the fair. It's refreshing to see human interest stories on the news. Keep up the good work!

Hi Todd,

Well it's been a while...but for whatever reason, they haven't been posting your stories on the internet until this latest one about the local fair.

Much better with the voice. You've made alot of improvement. You still need to edge closer to sounding more confident. Especially at the end of a sentence.

Your camera work is coming along. It's more consistent but...what was the point of showing the back of a guy as he grabbed the tail of a cow? I thought he was going to use the tail like a pump handle or something. You need to work on melding your video and audio together better. You aren't writing to video at all. You write your story and then pretty much cover it with whatever you have. I understand that trap but if you want your stories to look like more than average one man band work, you need to take the next step and bring both the words and pictures together better.

Your camera work is fine...for what it is. The interviews are looking more consistent but still remind me of handheld home video. I understand the situation you are working under. My suggetion at this point is to start thinking more about your pictures as well. The video, just like the voice track, need to have an opening shot, middle and closing shot.

Right now you are just covering the track. Wall papering it. I expect more from an experienced photographer.

Good job improving with your voice. Good job becoming more consistent with your camera work. From what I've seen between the VJs who were photogs and the VJs who weren't...the camera folk are kicking some booty.

Don't get me wrong. I still don't think an all VJ format at your station is going to save the news department but I'm not going to let that get in the way of giving you some fair, positive feedback on your individual work.

Good luck and keep working to polish your voice work.
